Featured Event:

On Sunday February 21, 2010 the bucks County Symphony will perform their annual Winter Concert . The orchestra is under the skillful direction of Maestro Gary Fagin. This event will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Central Bucks West High School, 375 West Court Street, Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The concert will feature Gabriel Fauré's Requiem in D minor. The Central Bucks West Choir, under the direction of Dr. Joseph Ohrt, and soloists from the Academy of Vocal Arts will perform. The Requiem is Fauré’s best known work, and its most famous movement is the soprano aria Pie Jesu. Of his work, Fauré commented, “It has been said that my Requiem does not express the fear of death and someone has called it a lullaby of death. But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience.”

The Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s 6th Symphony, also known as the Pastoral Symphony. This work reflects Beethoven’s love of nature and fondness for walks in the park near his home in the Vienna countryside.

The Symphony gratefully acknowledges the generous support of The Barley Sheaf Farm Estate and Spa, the sponsor of this event.
