2009 Youth Competition Winners

The 2009 Bucks County Symphony Youth Cometition winners are 14 year old Violinist Amy Semes and 12 year old Cellist Bihn Sangbin Park.
Amy began the violin when she was 4 years old. She is currently a student of Choong-Jin Chang, Principal Viola with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Amy participates in Temple University Music Prep and in the Youth Chamber Orchestra. Amy is in the Auger Scholarship Quartet at the Settlement Music School. This past September, Amy performed as a soloist with The Shanghai Philharmonic. Amy has won the Ambler Symphony Menges Competition and performed with the Ambler Symphony. Amy has spent the last four summers at The Aspen Music Festival, studying with Dr. Won-Bin Yim. She is a freshman at University Scholars at The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School.
Bihn (Sangbin) Park studies with Metta Watts in the gifted program for young musicians at Temple Music Prep and is a member of Temple Prep Youth Chamber Orchestra. He performed for the Trustees at the 2008 National Guild Conference. He was a 2008 State Winner of ASTA Solo Competition in Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter in the 19 years old and under Division. At age eleven, he won Albert M. Greenfield competition in the Children’s Division and subsequently he made a debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at Verizon Hall. Artist Competition. He is a recipient of NPR’s radio show; From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award and has appeared on From the Top's NPR Radio with Christopher O'Riley.
