Wine Tasting Event

The Bucks County Symphony will host our second annual wine and food pairing event at Lisa James Otto Country Properties[map it]   in Stockton, N.J. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. We will be pairing foods from some of our area’s finest chefs with wines selected by Philips Fine Wines of Stockton, N.J. We have expanded our space and added restaurants; which means more food, more wine and more fun.  Be sure to mark your calendar and plan to be there!

Immediately preceeding the main event, we’ll be hosting a Patron Party from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at The Stockton Inn, only steps from the main event. “Presenting Pinot Noir” will explore what is often considered the world’s most noble grape. Please join us at this early event.

The featured speaker will be Eric Asimov, Chief Wine Critic for the New York Times, has contributed his culinary expertise and writing skills to two books, The New York Times Guide to Restaurants 2004 and $25 and Under: A Guide to the Best Inexpensive Restaurants in New York, multiple newspaper columns, as well as articles for Food and Wine, Martha Stewart Living and Details Magazine. A food and wine commentator on WQXR radio, Eric lives in New York with his family.

The price for admission to the Main tasting is $ 75.00 per person and an additional $ 75.00 per person for the Patron Party.

Guest Speaker

Eric Asimov

J.H.NewmanEric Asimov is the chief wine critic of The New York Times, a position he assumed in June 2004 after having covered wine with The Times's tasting panel and in his Tastings column for the Dining section

Asimov created the $25 and Under restaurant reviews in 1992 and wrote them through 2004. He is a co-author of "The New York Times Guide to Restaurants 2004," the fifth edition of the guide. He has also reviewed takeout food for The Times in his To Go column and has offered commentary on food and wine on WQXR since 1999.

His freelance work previously appeared in Food and Wine, Details and Martha Stewart Living. His first book, "$25 and Under: A Guide to the Best Inexpensive Restaurants in New York," was published annually by HarperCollins from 1995 to 1998.

At The Times, he was editor of the Living section from 1991 to 1994 and editor of Styles of The Times from 1994 to 1995. Asimov is a graduate of Wesleyan University, in Middletown, Conn., and did graduate work in American studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He is married to Deborah Hofmann, has two children, Jack and Peter, and lives in Manhattan.
