Saluting Inna

The BCSO honored Concertmaster Inna Nedorezov at its Spring Concert on April 26. She has served in the premier orchestra position for 35 years and is retiring to travel and to spend more time with her growing family.

Accolades began flowing freely after Inna announced her retirement in early April. Music Director José Luis Domínguez praised her “passionate devotion to music and community…she will always be unforgettable and greatly missed.” Gary Fagin, BCSO Music Director Emeritus, recalled her “consummate professionalism and strong, steady leadership” along with her “supportive, warm humanity.” Her colleagues, a few of whom have played with Inna for all or most of her tenure, described her as a superb violinist who brought out the best in her fellow musicians, and did so with cheerful humor, a welcoming attitude, kindness, and passion.

Born in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Russia, Inna received her masters in violin performance from the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, then played at the St. Petersburg Opera Theater and with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic under Russia’s most renowned conductors. She and her family emigrated to the United States, ultimately settling in Pennsylvania in 1987. She quickly became a performer in great demand and has played for numerous classical ensembles in the Philadelphia area. A highly respected violin and viola teacher in her private studio and at the Settlement Music School, Inna has mentored hundreds of students during her illustrious career.

The entire BCSO family wishes Inna all the best as she embarks upon the next stage of her life’s journey. Our lives are richer for having known Inna as a beloved musician, colleague, and friend.
