Winner of the 2023 Youth Concerto Competition

The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce that Mio Imai, age 12, was awarded first place in the 2023 Youth Concerto Competition for her exemplary performance of Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saëns.  She receives the prestigious Jeanne Marvin Phillips Prize and an invitation to perform with the BCSO at the 2023 Family Concert in December.

Mio studies violin with Kimberly Fisher, the principal second violin of The Philadelphia Orchestra.  She performed as a soloist with the New York Session Symphony at the age of 9, and subsequently with the Rowan String Ensemble of Rowan University, Temple University Youth Chamber Orchestra, Old York Road Symphony, Ambler Symphony, and Main Line Symphony Orchestra.

Mio won 3rd prize in the U.S. MTNA National Competition (2022), 2nd prize in the Leonid Kogan International Competition (2021), and 3rd prize in the Chicago Violin International Competition (2021).

She plays chamber and orchestral music at Temple University’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians Program.
